![]() My local dealer is working with me to resolve the issues with Onstar connecting to the vehicle but in my opinion the update was a success. Voice commands to make or receive calls are working with the steering wheel button that also functions as the radio mute button. The issue I have is the Onstar functionality is limited, Onstar is having issues communicating with the vehicle but I can contact them using either the blue onstar button or the Emergency button. After replacing only the VCIM, Bluetooth works and pairs with my Blackberry. After a few web searches I found one at a auto recycler in Arizona, I purchased the VCIM (including the bluetooth antenna) for $250. I came to the conclusion that a VCIM module from a 2009 Escalade would be worthwhile investment. Additionally, you may have RCA Jacks or quite possibly 3.5mm input inside the center console compartment.I have been reading many GM forums (not only cadillac) with many opinions on the ability to add bluetooth functionality to a 2008 Escalade. ![]() Not quite sure the extent of your 2007 RSE configuration (roof and/or headrest mounted) and RCA input Jack location(s). Further, even utilized my ipad mini as a portable R-Nav system attached via 7" magnetic bar above in vehicle (R-Nav) unit. Selected Taotronics TT-BR08 BT Receiver (purchased on Amazon) for Two Mics (One Call One Noise Cancelling), Connect Two BT Devices (Simultaneouly), 15 Hour Music Play Time (Actually Clocked 14 Hours) and One Touch Voice Assistant Activation (i.e. The Bluetooth Adpater to RSE setup has provided the optimal solution (all under $30) for me. Also, researched Apple Car Play configuration, R-Nav Unit replacement with after market system and OnStar interface which were all costly and extensive to install. Considered R-Nav Head Unit/Bose Amp Mod (Too Involved) and FM Bluetooth Adpater (Too Much Electrical/Electronic Interfence). Used this setup for voice, nav and music several years with execellent results and quality connecting apple, android and windows devices. I just use the AUX setting on the stereo and then control the music from the phone. I use an iPhone and it will connect to both the VCIM and the bluetooth receiver at the same time so I can use the handsfree calling and also listen to music without having to switch anything back and forth. I had previously tried a different bluetooth receiver but the advantage to this one is that you do not need to turn it on manually every time you want to use it, it just restarts as soon as it gets power. In the future I will find a switched power lead to use for this. I have not had any problems but it does not shut off with the vehicle with it powered this way. ![]() Then I cut the power brick off of the power cord and spliced on a USB plug (the bluetooth receiver uses 5V for power) and plugged it into a usb adapter plugged into the power point in the console. I removed the RCA plugs from the back of the console and routed them into the inside of the console. Help! Surely someone has THE BEST WAY to add bluetooth calling & music to these beautiful vehicles that acts more OEM-like.įor mine I swapped the VCIM for the bluetooth calling side of things and added a bluetooth receiver to the center console that plugs into the RCA jacks on the back of the console. This seems icky.Īre there no better solutions that won't entail gutting my existing factory stereo/nav/rse/steering wheel controls/bose speakers? I've been down this road before and I know where it ends up. So, that leads me back to what options are available? Will the Y/R/W RCA input in rear seat console work if I select AUX on the radio & use a R/W -> 3.5mm female cable to convert that to AUX? Is it that simple.just don't plug anything into the yellow input? I could string the cable underneath the console and then connect the aux input somewhere hidden perhaps but for voice calls will need to find a place for the mic and since these are battery-operated units it needs to be somewhere it can be charged when needed. I'd like something a bit more higher end for such a nice vehicle though) FM radio Bluetooth (yuck, last resort I guess.iSimple antenna/FM modulator Tranzit BLU (seems a bit better than the option above but still kludgy and you have to string a mic and find a place for the little green phone button).iSimple bluetooth in-harness adapter (i see nightmare stories about this disabling the NAV or other problems with factory radio after install).Swap VCIM (looks like hit or miss finding one and in any case it doesn't support music). ![]() Ok, so the basic issue as I understand it is that the 2007 lacks an AUX port so the simple $15 headphone jack bluetooth adapter is out.
